About

It has been said, many times, that jazz is uniquely an American art form. Jazz connects, friends and families through the love of music!

The Red Cat Jazz Preservation Society, a 501(c) 3 non-profit corporation operating and governed by the laws of the State of Texas, started in 2009 to highlight the importance of maintaining the musical heritage of jazz. The Red Cat Jazz Preservation Society believes music, especially Jazz, is rooted in the arts and is fundamental to the cognitive, affective, physical and intellectual development of all children.  Each year, we provide children within our surrounding communities with free music instruments and music-based college scholarships. This has been made possible by the generous donations we have received from partners and sponsors during ‘The Red Cat Jazz Festival’ the signature fundraiser, for the RCJPS.  All of our Jazz Educational Outreach Programs reach hundreds of elementary, middle and high school students each year throughout Houston and Galveston as well as the surrounding counties. Our education programs place emphasis on the appreciation of jazz music from a historic and cultural perspective. The organization sponsors four main programs: 1) Jazz Cats Summer Workshops, 2) Red Cat Raising Star, 3) Jazz in the Air, and the 4) Red Cat Jazz Festival at Sylvan Beach in La Porte , TX.
